BOOK OF THE MONTH

All the books we feature on the site are featured because we think they deserve to stand out from the crowd of the many other titles published each month. However, sometimes in a month, we wish to select a few books and give them a little bit more emphasis make them a 'Book of the Month'.

The Night Raids byJim Kelly

A lone German bomber crosses the east coast of Britain on a moonless night in the long, hot summer of 1940. The pilot picks up the silver thread of a river and, following it to his target, drops his bomb over Cambridge's rail yards. The shell falls short of its mark and lands in a neighbourhood of terraced streets on the edge of the city's medieval centre.

DI Eden Brooke is first on the scene and discovers the body of an elderly woman, Nora Wylde, in a house on Elm Street, two fingers on her left hand severed, in what looks like a brutal attempt by looters to steal her rings. When the next day Nora's teenage granddaughter Peggy, a munitions worker, is reported missing, Brooke realises there is more to the situation than meets the eye.

Blood Will be Born by Gary Donnelly

MURDER. BLACKMAIL. WELCOME TO BELFAST.

DI Owen Sheen vowed never to return to Belfast, but he needs answers about his brother's death. He is on loan from London's Met to the Police Service of Northern Ireland, although before he can dig into the past, he must babysit DC Aoife McCusker on her first murder investigation. As the case slides into chaos, can Sheen put his personal agenda aside? And will McCusker keep her job long enough to ensure that this first case is not her last?

The Girl Who Lived Twice by David Lagercrantz

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO HAS FRESH OUTRAGE TO AVENGE As Salander follows the scorched trail of her twin sister to Moscow, Blomkvist fears for her safety. He should, perhaps, be more concerned for himself. The murder of a homeless man on the streets of Stockholm has drawn him into a conspiracy that scales the heights of Everest and plunges to the depths of Russia's criminal underworld.
